The most significant characteristic of National Geographic is probably the yellow border around the cover's edge. It is also well.known for its high standard of photography and book-like quality.

The magazine has 12 regular editions per year. Addionally, maps are sometimes included, for example about our solar system. Its content spreads from articles about nature and geography to culture, history, political developments and others. Occasionally, special editions are published.
